Better late than never. Let the war begin!

When the whole world is in urge to save natural resources, Indians not giving much importance to save natural resources & in fact losing it to fulfill our greed. One of the Prime Ministers when spoke about connecting Ganga-Cauvery, We as Indians were excited on this project. Have we ever thought how difficult it’s going to be & the forests which we may have to chop in this process? One of the ministers decides to utilize river Netravathi for about 100km circumstances area using concrete pipes. We will not even think whether it has so much of water to flow. If we would have tried to plant trees over the nearby hills since from the Kalasa Banduri issue started the situation wouldn’t have raised to talk about connecting rivers. In addition to our work, If Tamil Nadu would have planned for processing of ocean water to convert it to drinking water there will be no chance of desiccation of water in Cauvery.

10 years ago in 2006, It rained about 3000 mm in Coorg. This year rained about 1500mm, which is half of it. If environment destruction continues with this speed we will have half of the rain in next 5 years; half of it from then continues. It’s matter of another 10 years, Tamil Nadu will not ask for Cauvery & we will not be in a position to give it. Yes, We will need to have a battle within.

People talk much on this issue nowadays. They do not seem to be aware of the current situation nor having the patience to look for solution to resolve it. Last year water released to TN having no issues. This year the situation is not the same, nobody bothered to think why this year we are having issue. During last one year there were close to 1 lakh trees chopped for setting out Electric Power for Kerala as per the approval given by government. Did anyone bombarded about this during that time? Did anyone ask Keralites minister having in our government? Except few localities from Coorg & People from Mandya who had gone wayfaring to Coorg no one else responded to the situation. The Power cables could be setup via coastal area as well, why was it travelled through dense forest, Just think the logic behind, surely anyone feel like hitting them whoever be the reason for such crumble.

0001

After all, Coorg is the place where Cauvery origins, half of the outflow come from this place. It accomplishes 8 Crore people requirement, “Water of LIFE” for Bengaluru. Serves about 600 industrial units. Cauvery herself is Life for Farmers. Knowing all these facts government should have announced the places transverse with the river as Sensitive place, but they did go for Timber lobby and destroyed the forest. Who are the Beneficiaries?

Mentioning here just for calculation purpose. Healthy grown Tree has the capability to hold 30 to 40 thousand liters of water. It’s root absorbs the water and let it get inside the earth help to increase the level of groundwater. Not just that, leaves ensures the cool weather across by sprinkling the water they get. Dense clouds get attracted to such a cool weather and rains. Since from few days we see only the clouds movement but not rain as it is influenced with weather of specific location, now you understand why It’s not letting its tiny water droplets to the ground. When we have tree felling in huge number from where to bring the rain.

This year we didn’t have wet monsoon rain considerably, Dry monsoon completely collapsed. “Varsha” season decreased its tenure to 15 days from 3-4 months. We crib for not having water in K.R.S. The reason behind this is shortage of rain fall in Coorg & cause is the support from one of honorable minister in our government. Of course, It cannot be fingered at one party. There is no difference with respect to any parties in Timber lobby. There is a strong yowl for having Railway tracks from Mysore to Coorg. Countless of Trees chopping will be done. The Plan was on hold since from long due to the commercial reason as it would not be profitable project to the government. If this is done people travel in train from Coorg to Mysore easily, but Cauvery do not travel (flow) so easily. Of course, If Coorg ask for separation from Karnataka & like to evolve as new state who will be answering?

There are certain things which will never be understood. I know, after having said this people surely get annoyed with my words. Let’s come to the point. We are talking about a year after. Imagining the terrific days 10 years later from now. We about 1000 folks did plant about 1000 saplings 2 years ago over top of hills in Haliyangali, Bagalkot. It’s showing all sign of growing as tree. In another 10 years these trees will be successful in stopping clouds & become the reason for rain fall for Karnataka. It may not be possible to us to vacate the silt from lake or ponds. At least we are tried out best to sustain the water to get it absorbed, planted 3 to 4 thousand saplings in Bharatipura, KR pet. Many of which grown as trees. Mandya gets enough water when they become capable enough to attract the clouds & get rain fall. We are satisfied with the work we did. During rainy season we did a workspace for water absorption & have proud feeling that we promoted others too do the same. We are happy to show our gratitude this manner to rivers Cauvery, Tunga, Krishna. The one who speak never come with us for Kalyani cleaning work. I really laugh at them when they speak loud on Cauvery issue.

Let it be… If I have to talk about politics. There has to be some sort of real interest & concern expected from the government. Government should have planned well in advance when there is a case in front of Supreme Court. Leaving all possible aspects to win the case & without having formal word with TN & Central government they failed to communicate in the court. What could be the reason for violence appeared during first day after the judgment received from Supreme Court & didn’t continue. The whole state burning with this Cauvery issue, same time the minister who was accused to Police officer Ganapathi’s suicide case received clean chit. Not just that, government brought him back to cabinet as well. Made money with destroying the forest – became reason for shortage of rain falls & back to the seat during the same time, no one questions them. They did use Cauvery instance for their convenience.

Some people making use of the opportunity & talk about separation of Karnataka from India. A decade after if there is no water in Cauvery for which we departed from our nation then what’s the purpose of separation? Before Cauvery become desiccated let us fight a battle against not letting the river to dry, preserving forest, saving water for ourselves within.
